CONVERSE SHOES FOR MEN: THE SURVIVORS

Punky yet classy, vintage yet contemporary, welcome to the world of Converse shoes for men.

Men’s Converse shoes are a style that will never get old. They have already been around for a century and they are perhaps more popular than ever. The designs have been changed and mixed up to find the winning formula, the best details have stayed and the weaker ones have been improved. Truth is, most of the iconic features from men’s Converse of yesteryear can still be found on the shoes on this page: the canvas uppers, the side patch with the star, the white round toe cap, the lacing style, the rear pull tab… the list goes on.

100+ YEARS OF MENS’ CONVERSE

There’s history in the shoes. A LOT of it. In fact, the first pair of Converse shoes for men came out way back in 1917. They were basketball shoes that were designed to stop legendary player Chuck Taylor from complaining about sore feet on the court. Chuck Taylor donned them and then became the don himself – a full-time brand ambassador whose signature was added to the side patch of the now-iconic men’s Converse high tops in 1932 – another surviving detail. Converse shoes for men dominated the b-ball court from there on, and were the official shoes of the NBA until Nike, PUMA and adidas came to the party in the 70s’.

That kick-started a drop in popularity for men’s Converse until the 80s’ and 90s’ grunge rock scene adopted them as de facto kicks and Converse were able to diversify their range. Converse shoes for men soon made it into pop culture, and they’ve stayed there ever since. Real OGs.

MEN’S CONVERSE SHOES: PUMPED UP VERSATILITY

Today there’s a pair of Converse shoes for men for every outfit and every man. There’s the old-school Chuck Taylor All Stars if you want the classic kicks or there are newer, more modern styles like the high-top or low-top Run Star Hikes with their statement jagged outsoles. To meet in the middle you could go for a pair of Chuck 70s with all the features of the classic 70s basketball styles but with modern features like cushioned footbeds and lightweight EVA materials. It’s all up to you.
